The Experience of FIlming

The Experience of filming

 What went well?

Furthermore, we tested the lighting a lot in our first scene at the fountain. Because that scene was outside, we had a little trouble getting the lighting correct, which was why it was hard to get a wide shot in at the angle we wanted. So, instead we went with medium and close up shots.

I feel like we did the lighting of our scenes well. We took a lot of test shots and got some really got shots at the fountain.

Bad lighting

God lighting

When everyone came to the filming location and as we filmed, we realized we needed certain props that nobody had explicitly mentioned to bring. But thankfully our group was smart enough to bring stuff like, proper wallets, money, the penny, devices to hold phones etc.

Additionally, we had a lot of fun doing bloopers and background info of this project. We documented the entire filming process. I used to have all this footage, but it is not on the computer I am currently working on.

-What did not go well?

This was the Trader Joes; we filmed at without permission.
We actually plan to cut this scene out because it didn't show the humorous side of Claire's bad luck enough, instead it felt sad because of her social class. We created a whole sequence of bad luck after this round of filming to better showcase the humor of Claire's bad luck that will be filmed on our second shoot day that has not happened yet.
Here are some fo the scenes from Trader Joes that we struggled filming because of the POV shots we wanted to use:

I kept dropping the coins
-There was no solution to this, I ruined a lot of shots because of this that we actually decided to put it into the film.
This was a recreation of what actually happened during filming that made us add the scene of me dropping the penny in the smoothie shop too the film opening

We also had difficulty filming the scene where me and Dereck bumped into each other because I kept laughing, and we were trying to perfect the angle of the camera to perfectly capture both of us.

Sadly, I don't have that footage on the computer I am currently using, it is on a now broken computer. :(

But with trial and error the scene came out fairly well. Which you can see in the rough cut we showed you of our film opening.

Thank you for reading :)

And this is how we beat the superstition of taking a penny out of the fountain on its tail side to not get bad luck.
