Final Music Video
What we did well:
The acting in the music video was done well by Jacquie, I feel like she portrayed the role of the sad girl well. Additionally, we had a few good transitions between jump cuts and match cuts. We got more familiar with close ups later into the music video, and had one really good close ups.
What we didn't do well:
We had to many wide shots in the beginning of our film and needed to have closer one shots of Jacquie to portray the emotions of the sad girl better. Furthermore, some of our transitions , specifically the bedroom scene when it transitioned from her getting up to the mirror was choppy, a couple other shots were also choppy. We ran out of time and couldn't re film those scenes so they were stuck like that in the final edit. We also had to scrap a couple of scenes because we learned the background was too bland.
What I would have done differently:
I wish we would have started editing earlier on because we had problems with accessing videos and editing permission on cap cut, and we could have gotten more advice on scenes if we had a partially editing music video. Moreover, I wish we had more background characters to make the scenes feel less empty, and more outside of school scenes. ( That was more of a scheduling issue we couldn't help because we were all busy on different days) Lastly, I wish we made some sort of story board to visually see the scenes we were going to film, and got more transitions scenes.
Things that we ran into problems with:
Filming without people disrupting our scenes was very time consuming, as well as understanding what shots were needed to portray the right mood. Scheduling when to film at different locations was also extremely hard, we had to cancel many filming days because of scheduling issues.
How we solved the problems:
We changed the script of our music video so we would have more scenes at the school, and wouldn't have to film outside as much. We got around the disruptions by changing were we filmed to a place less people trafficked though we still had some disruptions.
What I would do for our next film project:
I would make our script less precise and more broad so we could explore the scene in the moment and get variety of different camera angles. The exactness of our script didn't really work a lot because we went off script a bunch. I also want to film everything we need in a span of 2 or three filming days so we can focus on editing for the rest of the time and re film scenes later if needed.
Here is our behind the scenes video.
Remember to add Derek behind the scenes videos
